Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
Huntington Hospital is a 525-bed non-profit, community hospital. Founded in 1892, Huntington is committed to providing our patients excellent care delivered with compassion and respect. We offer a full complement of acute medical care and community services, ranging from general medicine to the foremost specialized programs in cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, womens and childrens services, surgery, emergency and psychiatry.

More than 1,000 volunteers provide service to 77 different departments and programs at Huntington Hospital. Donating over 100,000 hours per year, these volunteers represent one of the hospitals greatest assets.

Volunteers provide assistance to patients, families, visitors and staff, and serve in every area of the hospital. In some areas, volunteers assist staff by performing non-technical tasks, assembling patient charts, or rocking a crying infant, thereby freeing staff members to perform duties that require more specific medical knowledge or skill. In other areas, volunteers may act as the exclusive providers of certain services, answering phones, or staffing an information desk. In all areas, the commitment of volunteers is critical to the successful completion of a wide range of duties.

In addition to providing assistance in the hospital, volunteers help Huntington Hospital reach out to the San Gabriel Valley community in numerous ways. Some offer telephone support to patients being treated for breast or prostate cancer. Others assist the Blood Donor Center with blood drives in the community. Wherever volunteers serve, their extraordinarily generous donation of time and service is vital to Huntington Hospitals success, and helps make the hospital a very special place.

To maintain active status, volunteers must work a minimum of eight hours per month. Volunteers who are not currently enrolled in school are asked to commit to one year (100 hours) of service. Students commit to a six-month (40-hour for high school, 50-hour for college) involvement.
